Blues Point Reserve is my number one recommendation for couples wanting one of Sydney’s most iconic wedding backdrops.
With panoramic views stretching across the harbour, you’ll stand directly opposite the Sydney Harbour Bridge with the city skyline behind you. The large grassy reserve offers plenty of space to find a quiet spot, making it ideal for intimate ceremonies while still feeling spacious and relaxed.
The afternoon light is particularly beautiful, while sunset creates an incredible backdrop for photographs.
McMahons Point Foreshore
Running along the waterfront, the McMahons Point Foreshore offers a collection of quiet grassy areas, pathways and waterside locations overlooking Sydney Harbour.
The atmosphere here is relaxed and peaceful, making it perfect for couples wanting something simple and intimate. After your ceremony you can continue walking along the foreshore for photographs, with beautiful harbour views around almost every corner.

Planning Your Ceremony
McMahons Point is one of my favourite locations for simple legal ceremonies, elopements and intimate weddings. The harbour foreshore provides beautiful public spaces where couples can meet, exchange their legal vows, sign the paperwork and enjoy the spectacular Sydney Harbour backdrop.
For most legal-only ceremonies, no council permit is required. If you’re simply meeting at the location with your witnesses, celebrant and photographer, then heading off to celebrate afterwards, you can generally use the park without making a booking.
However, North Sydney Council has introduced a policy for organised gatherings in its parks. If your ceremony will have more than 20 people gathered together, you’ll need to apply for a council permit. While this isn’t common for most legal ceremonies, it’s worth keeping in mind if you’re inviting family and friends. For example, if you have 17 guests, once you add the couple, your celebrant and photographer, you’ll exceed the 20-person threshold and will require a permit.

- Any other ceremony furniture or reserved setup
