Maroubra Wedding Ceremony Locations
Dramatic clifftop wedding locations on Sydney’s southern coastline in Maroubra
Getting Married in Maroubra
With its rugged cliffs, ocean pool and sweeping coastal views, Maroubra is a stunning spot for a legal wedding. It has a wilder, more open feel than some of Sydney’s more manicured wedding locations, which is exactly what draws couples here.
Whether you’re planning an intimate ceremony for just the two of you or a small gathering with family and friends, Maroubra’s coastline gives you the ocean as a backdrop without needing to book out a venue.
Why Couples Choose Maroubra
Maroubra is particularly popular for:
– Legal weddings
– Elopements
– Intimate ceremonies
– Couples wanting a relaxed, no-fuss ceremony by the ocean
– Beautiful coastal wedding photography
One of the best things about marrying here is that your ceremony and photos happen in the same place. After saying “I do”, you can wander along the coastal path and cliffs, taking in the ocean pool, the headland and the water below, for photographs that capture the full sweep of the coastline.
Suggested Ceremony Locations
Mahon Pool Reserve
Mahon Pool itself is beautiful to look at, but the rock platform it sits on isn’t practical for a ceremony. Instead, couples marry on the grassed reserve just above it, with the ocean pool and coastline as a backdrop. It gives you that same dramatic outlook without anyone needing to navigate wet rocks in wedding shoes.
The Maroubra Headland
For couples wanting a bit more space and an even wider ocean outlook, the headland is a favourite. It has a slightly wilder feel than the Mahon Pool reserve, with sweeping views up and down the coast.

Planning Your Legal Wedding
Maroubra is a beautiful choice for a simple legal wedding, with several coastal spots offering wonderful ocean views. As the area is popular with walkers, swimmers and beachgoers, choosing the right time can make your ceremony feel more peaceful and private.
Early mornings are usually quieter and offer beautiful natural light. Late afternoons can also provide softer, golden light over the water. Weekends, particularly during summer and around the middle of the day, tend to be much busier.
Street parking is available along Marine Parade and the surrounding streets. Parking can be limited during weekends and warmer months, so I recommend allowing some extra time before your ceremony.
