Coogee offers some of Sydney’s most spectacular oceanfront ceremony locations, making it a beautiful choice for couples planning a simple legal wedding or intimate ceremony. While the beach itself is always popular, the elevated headland at the northern end of Coogee provides breathtaking panoramic views, dramatic sandstone cliffs and a little more privacy than the sand below.
Most of my Coogee ceremonies take place around the northern headland, where there are several beautiful locations all within a short walking distance of each other.

Suggested Ceremony Locations
Goldstein Reserve
Goldstein Reserve is the large open park directly behind Coogee Beach. It offers wide grassed areas, uninterrupted ocean views and easy access, making it one of the most convenient ceremony locations in Sydney.
The reserve is perfect for couples wanting a relaxed legal ceremony with the beach as their backdrop. There are plenty of areas away from the busiest sections where a short ceremony can take place before wandering down onto the sand or along the coastal walk for photographs.
Dunningham Reserve & Kimberley’s Vantage Point
Located on Coogee’s northern headland, Dunningham Reserve is one of my favourite locations for intimate legal weddings. The elevated lawns overlook Coogee Beach and the Pacific Ocean, creating an incredible backdrop without needing to step onto the beach itself. The reserve forms part of the famous Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk and is known for its expansive ocean views.
Just a short walk along the headland is Kimberley’s Vantage Point, a spectacular lookout perched above the cliffs. It offers uninterrupted coastal scenery and is ideal for couples wanting dramatic ocean views with very few distractions in the background
Nearby you’ll also find the moving Bali Memorial, which sits within the headland reserve and overlooks the ocean. While it is a place of remembrance, the surrounding lawns and nearby lookouts provide several beautiful ceremony spots that capture the natural beauty of Coogee.
Best Time of Day
Coogee is one of Sydney’s busiest beaches, particularly during weekends and throughout summer. For the most peaceful experience, I recommend weekday ceremonies or earlier mornings when the headland is much quieter and the light is beautifully soft.
Late afternoons also create lovely golden light across the ocean, although the coastal walk and surrounding parks become noticeably busier as the day goes on.
Parking & Accessibility
Street parking is available throughout Coogee, with additional parking surrounding Goldstein Reserve and along nearby streets. During weekends, public holidays and warm weather, parking can become limited, so allowing extra time is always a good idea.
The northern headland locations are connected by paved pathways, making them easily accessible for small legal ceremonies while still offering some of the best coastal views in Sydney.
